Project Overview
FT House is a single-family residence set within a densely wooded site in Nicaragua. The design responded directly to the land — rather than altering the terrain, the programme was distributed across two natural levels, placing the main house and social spaces in dialogue with the existing topography.
The exterior is defined by a striking acid-treated texture sourced from Mexico, its warm oxidised tone deepening against the surrounding vegetation and proposed landscape. Inside, chukum plaster walls meet handmade clay floors — a material pairing that feels rooted, tactile and quietly refined throughout every space.
The entry sequence sets the tone. A slender wall supports a cantilevered volume that marks the path to the main entrance. Once inside, the principal living space asserts itself through a cast concrete vault — a structural gesture that anchors the room and draws the eye. The social areas are oriented to frame an uninterrupted view across the full length of the garden, where interior and exterior dissolve into one continuous experience.
